We took the berry bomb Rap Battle and aged it a Tippins store pick bourbon barrel with vanilla beans. The result takes the powerful flavors of Rap Battle and mellows them to a beautiful balance. Color is deep blood red.
This here, is something special. I've had multiple bottles of Rap Battle, which is an extremely juicy, complex mead on its own. Now, Jeff and the guys at Maniacal went absolutely maniacal with the BA version. Upon opening you are hit with intoxicating notes of black currant, barrel character and a soft vanilla to cut the sharpness. The flavor is so complex, it truly cannot be worded, but here goes: HUGE fruit flavors, and I dont mean just "fruit", I mean waves of each individual fruit flow through your mouth, each discernable from the last. A beautiful barrel presence expresses itself all over your mouth, you begin to get confused and scared of the joy happening in your mouth...and pants, and before you know it there's this velvet-y soft vanilla that rounds everything out and prepares your palette for the next sip. This mead now has me beyond excited to explore the rest of the first BA series from the folks at Maniacal Mead Co. Cheers!
